This looks like a playbook – one I want to live by.
Considering Cassidy played professional basketball for five seasons on four continents before launching his insurance career, playbook is certainly an apt term for his description of Brian Laundry’s Manifesto. Some of its elements? Do the right thing. There is absolutely no substitute for effort. Never oversell.
“Brian has created a culture here. And my basketball career was
huge on culture. The coach set the rules, and whenever we followed them, we were successful. We were doing good for ourselves and also for others.”
For this Mississauga native, doing good for himself meant playing NCAA Division 1 hoops at Canisius College in Buffalo, and then playing pro around the world – in China, Romania, Argentina and Canada. Doing good for others meant he and his teammates performing community service wherever they went, especially helping kids.
Which was a natural fit for Cassidy, considering he studied in university, in both Canada and the US, to be a teacher, ultimately earning a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Brock and making the Dean’s List along the way.
Unsurprisingly, Cassidy wants to have the ball. His ambition was noticed by Canada Life, where his financial services career began, and then by Brian, an avid (although not-so-pro) basketball player himself. Also no shocker is that Cassidy’s interests include travel and fitness. Along with a touch of philosophy.
“I believe that every action has a reaction, and that when you choose to live by a manifesto, you are choosing to do good. And that will lead to something truly great coming your way.”
